News at 120 Harbour St.

In September, we profiled 120 Harbour St., a plot of land in Toronto that was for sale via Build Toronto, the city’s real estate wing. Today, we are quite pleased to announce that Tridel, one of the top new homebuilders in the Greater Toronto Area, is moving forward with a very interesting proposal for the property.

It’s been known for a while now that Tridel had some big plans for the area, rumours jumped from a single tower rising over 100 storeys, to a smaller, more conservative tower that would top out at 30 storeys. Well, thanks to the fine folks at Daily Commercial News, we now have a better idea of what type of project Tridel has in store for us.

Tridel is proposing to build a 75-storey tower that will contain 774 residential units. The tower will feature retail components on the ground floor, and a five-level underground parking garage that will hold 344 parking spaces. With all the news breaking about the tower, we have also been able to obtain some initial renderings of the condominium. Given the shape of the plot of land, Tridel had to be very inventive with the tower, specifically the podium.

Once completed, the podium will have a sharp 90-degree angle, with the point on the east side of the lot, and the rest of the tower widening on York St. 120 Harbour St. is the second biggest proposal in the area, as 90 Harbour St., a new development by Menkes, will see two 70+ storey towers, plus a large office component.
