Reports suggest that Freed Developments have purchased a new development site.

Currently an “Art Shoppe”, 2131 Yonge St consists of over an acre and a half at the corner of Yonge and Hillsdate Avenue, just South of Eglinton. Although it is not currently zoned for it, there is little doubt that a site this big will see a two-tower development that would peak at 60 storeys with significant podium features.

However, Freed is a developer who has a history of building more intimate, boutique-style buildings. They specialize in smaller infill projects that add to the depth of a street without taking away form the existing area. Would they break from their history and develop a bigger tower? Or push the limit and move towards a larger more significant development?

Recently, Freed has been one of the most active developers in the King West area of Toronto. Seventy5 Portland, Fashion House, the Thompson Residences and Six 50 King West are all keying the redevelopment of the King West neighbourhood.
