Last year, in one of our historical pieces about the Distillery District, we teased you with a brief mention of the new condominium development Clear Spirit. Well, this week, we can let you know that the residence is really starting to take shape and construction continues to move along smoothly.
Cityscape Development Corp. and Dundee Realty control all of the real estate in the Distillery District, and it was only a matter of time before they brought high-rises to the neighbourhood. Thankfully, they are doing so in a tasteful manner by having Peter Clewes of architectsAlliance design the condominium. Clear Spirit will be a glass-clad tower that will reach 40 storeys by the time of completion; in fact, we should see the glass being mounted any day now. The tower seems to be your basic glass rectangular prism, but on each facade, there is a slight indent that gradually flows across the balconies, creating an organic wave of motion. The indents give the building an angular appearance, reminiscent of the Distillery District’s artistic ambiance.
Located at the corner of Mill Street and Trinity Street, Clear Spirit will take its place in one of the trendiest and most popular pockets of Toronto. Living at Clear Spirit, you will find yourself steps away from some of the city’s best gallery spaces, art studios, and jewellery shops. When Cityscape and Dundee purchased the land, they made sure that no chain stores would occupy any of the real estate, so you’re sure to be surrounded by the quaintest of small businesses and independent boutiques and cafes, such as Balzac’s Coffee Roasters. Out of all the areas in Toronto, the Distillery District definitely stands out as its own little world, with its brick and cobblestone streets, the historic factories, and the large amount of preserved Victorian architecture – there really is no place like it.
Besides being surrounded by some of Toronto’s best independent businesses, Clear Spirit will also feature its own array of luxurious amenities, including an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, a lounge space equipped with barbecue stations, a games room, a theatre room, an outdoor terrace, and a library. For the fitness minded, workout facilities will feature state-of-the-art equipment.
Clear Spirit will be comprised of 347 units, but apparently, there are only a few left! The environment and floor plans are directed towards young professionals, couples, and small families. So, if the area sounds perfect to you and the building pleases your eye, then check out a unit today. Do not wait because these units are moving at an alarming rate, and it would be a shame to miss out on this opportunity!
Completion is scheduled for the end of this year. Stay tuned to the Toronto Star’s NewInHomes.com for more updates on Clear Spirit as construction moves along.
