Coming Soon: The Carnaby Lofts

Last month, we reported that Streetcar Development intends to build at 11 Peel Avenue, an underused pocket of Queen St. West. We knew their plans, as well as the vision for the project, but what we did not have was the name. That changed late last week, and we are proud to announce that The Carnaby Lofts are headed to Toronto.

Although the project is still in the planning phase, we are able to share some interesting aspects of the project. Based on an application submitted to the City, The Carnaby Lofts will be a multiple building project, with the highest of the towers being 22 storeys. There will be a total of 404 suites, with everything from underground parking to retail and office components.

The site, currently a vacant warehouse, is the perfect spot for a large development project. It’s the type of project that we have been promoting over the past year; taking an underused pocket of the city and creating something new and useful by adding residential, office, and retail space.

Streetcar Development is one of the top infill developers in the city. Their vision of enhancing under-serviced areas is phenomenal; they always seem to be coming up with cool and innovative designs.

The only question that we have at this point is, what’s it going to look like?  We are still waiting on some official renderings, but based off of Streetcar’s impressive portfolio, we are certain that they have come up with something more than suitable for the area.

What are your thoughts on The Carnaby Lofts?

What type of architecture do you hope to see?
