Coming Soon: Ten York

For months now, we have been discussing 120 Harbour St., a development by Tridel. We had the details, including the height, suite numbers, and renderings, but what we did not have was a project name. That all changed today, with Tridel and Build Toronto announcing a new partnership that will start with Ten York.

As part of today’s press conference, it was announced that Tridel is teaming with Build Toronto at the development site. “This premier site represents a fantastic financial opportunity, essentially, development at its best,” said J. Lorne Braithwaite, president & CEO of Build Toronto. “Not only are we generating great short-term value and long-term revenue growth to meet our shareholder needs; through intensification, economic growth and vitality, we’re also meeting the ever-growing needs of our city.”

“This site offers the opportunity to create a condominium development that will be spectacular, and our agreement with Build Toronto furthers our commitment not only to condo-building, but to city-building,” said Leo DelZotto, president of Tridel.

This project is a first for Build Toronto. In the past, they have managed Toronto’s surplus land inventory, looking to maximize the city’s return on underused land. They sold 154 Front St. E., and are currently marketing multiple plots of land within the city, including 1978 Lake Shore Blvd. W., 60 Atlantic Ave., and 4620 Finch Ave. E. The site, sitting at the corner of 120 Harbour St. and 10 York St., was a former Toronto Parking Authority parking lot, as well as an impound lot used by the Toronto Police Services.

What are your thoughts about this new partnership between Tridel and Build Toronto? Are there any other Build Toronto managed sites that you would like to see developed?
