King West is on fire. Without a doubt, it’s one of the most popular areas in the City of Toronto, for both new homebuilders and residents alike. It has a perfect balance of nightlife, boutique shops, transit options, and very intriguing residential buildings.  Every time we hear about a new proposal in the area our attention is drawn, we seek out more information because it’s one of the most talked about areas of our city. With that in mind, we’ve gotten a sneak peek at Context King West, Context’s new project in the downtown core.

Previously, we had known this project as ‘The 620′, a boutique condominium that would be home to 14 exclusive downtown residences. However, given the market that we are in, and the demand in the city for high-density residences, it’s not a surprise that Context has altered their original plan.  Context King West, sitting at 620 King St., will now be an 18-storey tower that will be comprised of 230 units. The ground floor will feature a stone brick exterior, while the exterior of the middle and top floors will be accented by a very cool white precast cladding, with staggered windows and balconies.

What do we like so much about this proposal? It’s unique.  It seems that we have become set in our ways here in Toronto, with designs that do not necessarily ‘rock the boat’, but what Context and Hariri Pontarini Architects are presenting with Context King West, it will definitely be one of the more interesting designs that he have seen over the past few years.
