Cityzen Developments -via their Facebook page- has released an early peak of what Waterfront Toronto have planned for the Waterfront. Their vision, in a word, is intriguing.
Cityzen and their partners purchased the location in late 2010, after The Home Depot failed in its bid to build a store at the site.
The area is over 13 acres and is the largest contiguous tract of land on Toronto’s East Bayfront. It is currently zoned for over 2 million Square Feet of retail, hotel, entertainment and residential uses. The development is expected to be the largest downtown Toronto project.
Cityzen has hired London based architecture group Foster + Partners as the lead architects. Foster + Partners are one of the world’s leading architecture firms in designing Master Planned developments.
Although we still do not have specific information on the development, there is no doubt that Cityzen and their partners will push the envelope on the design and use of the space. They have a history of designing unique and interesting projects throughout Ontario, including the Absolute Towers and the L-Tower, as well as its future tower at 154 Front St. E.
This project is one that we at the Toronto Star’s NewInHomes.com are quite excited about. We are interested to see what Cityzen has in store for us.
We will have more on this development as it becomes available.
